Dr. Tonnies is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with nearly 30 years of experience serving the Shenango Valley and surrounding communities. He takes time to listen, explain treatment options clearly, and create a personalized plan that supports each patient's independence, confidence, and quality of life.
His areas of focus include hip and knee replacement, revision joint replacement, arthritis treatment, sports medicine, fracture care and trauma, shoulder injuries and rotator cuff disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, hand, wrist, foot, and ankle conditions, tendon and ligament injuries, workers' compensation injuries, veteran orthopedic care, and general orthopedic surgery.

Austin is a certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine. He earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Mount Union and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wheeling Jesuit University. Outside of medicine, Austin stays active through outdoor activities and sports — an appreciation for movement and recovery that helps him connect with patients working to return to the activities they enjoy most.
